I am fascinated by backlighting, subtle color, shapes, shadows, and patterns. Some of my photographs are visual puzzles; many tell me a story. I like to look through or into spaces, and get in close to include small details. Landscape often acts simply as background; I leave the grand vistas to others.
After picking up my first digital camera, I never looked back at film. Infrared photography has always been a love of mine, but even my infrared photography is now done digitally.
I have studied photography at Northern Virginia Community College, the Maine Photographic Workshops, Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, the Smithsonian Institution, and privately with several well respected photography educators.
