Alan Sislen lives in Bethesda, Maryland and has been an avid photographer for more than 40 years. Landscape photography is his passion and he has photographed in the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Chile, England, New Zealand and Iceland. Initially he worked in a traditional black and white darkroom and in 2001 embraced the digital darkroom.
Alan has studied with well-known British landscape photographer Charlie Waite, former National Geographic photographer Bruce Dale, digital expert Thom Hogan, Photoshop experts John Paul Caponigro and Eliot Cohen, fine art photographer Charles Cramer and color management and printing expert Bill Atkinson.
In 2005 he was juried into Multiple Exposures Gallery at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia, and was juried into the Torpedo Factory as a Resident Artist in 2006. In 2007, he was juried into VisArts, in Rockville, Maryland as one of 11 Resident Artists. He contributes his photography to support local and national organizations, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, the Gift of Life Foundation, PhotoWorks and the Roundhouse Theater.
Alan’s work may be seen at his home studio and gallery in Bethesda, Maryland and at Multiple Exposures Gallery at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia.
